We must make our own choices in our methods of training. It is not easy to stand up against the masses but I will tell you something that when you do it once, you will look at yourself with a great pride.
How many officers on the street get hurt because the dogs are dysfunctional? Think about that.
How many taxpayers' dollars are being wasted because dogs on the street are dysfunctional?
How many tracks have been lost?
Why are so many dogs dysfunctional? Because the handlers are mostly dysfunctional that's why.
Why are the handlers dysfunctional? Because the training is.
Why is the training dysfunctional? Because it is accepted as the truth.
In the reality of the world it cannot stand.
If you are with Law Enforcement or Security, you may have to go up against someone who may be on drugs. Your training techniques have not been realistic and the cold fact is that this person may turn and put a bullet in you.
The real world works on truth and the reality of the truth is that much of the training for Law Enforcement and their K-9's does not work. Have these people who make up all the rules for certification come up against a man who puts a gun in their face. Then ask these same people who make up the rules, "Which hand do you want the dog to target?"
Working Service Training stands on its own merit. The reality of the training is decisions that need to be made in seconds. Decisions that can save your life and possibly the lives of others.
You can be feed as much bullshit as you want and I can't stop you from feeding it to me but do not expect me to swallow it.
When you are with your dog for the certification remember that when the stick is brought down on the dog you are betraying the dog and yourself.
