I can read you off
case studies of dogs that have been killed needlessly.
There are more of these case studies of handlers that have been
hurt or killed because of their training.
I have
witnessed people training at Baden K-9 who do not move in front of a swinging
weapon.
You should not only move but be able to think while you
are moving and be able to react.
The dog should be trained to be able to carry out the given task while you are reacting to save
your life.
If someone is firing at you and you
are down are you going to stand there and say to your dog to "take him" while you are being shot at? No, you are going to be
down. If you think that the dog has to be used as a distraction you are
going to deploy that dog.
That is tactical deployment of a K-9. 02/20/02
What should the target be?
