Few handlers I train and work with, know anything about defensive moves for themselves and their K-9's.
Most become so involved with the
deploying of the dog on the suspect during these training exercises, that even after being hit, stand there and keep on the
dog to, "Take him."
That is how most are trained around
the dog.
I suggest to you that is not
how it is will be in a real life situation.
You are going to duck down to get
away. You are not going to want to get
hit.
The dog has to get used to that
movement, to defend itself and to get away.
Most handlers
are used to walking up with the dog to the suspect and saying "Take him." This means that the way you have been trained and your training techniques is very
embedded in you.
That is not the way it
should be.
Question the training you have received. Does it work? Remember the story of the "King with no clothes."
At Baden K-9 we will train you and your K-9 in the proper defensive moves. Our Civilian Boot Camps are designed to teach people to communicate with their dogs and learn the magic of Working Service Training. Our Law Enforcement and Military training is designed to keep you alive.02/08/02
