Do you see the total insanity in the dog taking the unweaponed hand and the aggressor having the weapon in his hand to shoot you and your dog? The very biting of the Shutz arm is causing the dog to be dysfunctional because the dog must be dysfunctional to bite something he knows it can never get through.
The reasoning for this?
My dog has to get certified.
That is a statement of our existence. The dog can never rise above that statement and that level of thinking.
Will you do anything to change it? Likely not! Because the entire world tells you something and you do not want to be outside of that circle what you are being told is accepted. And so many K-9 handlers accept these lies and myths and do not stand up against it. That is the level the dog rises to. That is what your handling is.
Once you shed that crap you can properly handle a dog. If you accept the lie then the lie becomes your truth.
We put many restrictions on our handling all the time. Even though we may know that some things aren't right we continue to do it the same way. The truth gets hidden, the lie gets accepted and the effectiveness is gone.
When your eyes are opened up to the truth you have a responsibly to the truth. That's where being a good and responsible handler come in.
When a handler needs to handle in extreme prejudice, which is a nice way of saying, "where they are killing and where they are trying to kill you," where is the truth then?
Will the certification be so necessary then?
We assist the enemy by permitting this type of thinking.
