I would love to see more handlers and more dogs working together.
You have a dog that can be a distraction; a visual distraction. Two or three dogs can work together as a team.
Yet it is virtually unheard of in Law Enforcement for two or three dogs working together because the dogs fight.
Our dogs won't fight.
This is their training.
They will jump over other dogs to take a bite. They will take out a target with another dog, as a team.
The reason this is unheard of is because the sporting world trains one dog on a groomed field and then puts it back in the kennel. They then take another dog out of the kennel and work it on the same groomed field. And on it goes. They build the mentality of the dog.
When officers come to Baden K-9 to train with their K-9's and see this training they can go back and say "We can deploy two or three dogs at a time if we had the proper dogs and the proper training".
Just think how effective that is.
How fast and effective is one dog?
Imagine how effective 2 or 3 dogs would be.
Dogs that are used in this manner and know how to use necessary force are highly effective in the field and in multiple K-9 units. Mike McConnery 03/07/02
