When I was a kid growing up there was a spinster woman who lived in our neighbourhood.
She always pretended to be such a nice woman.
I can remember her Cocker Spaniel. The dogs name was Danny. He was a creamy coloured dog.
Danny bit nearly every kid in the neighbourhood.
I remember my Mom mentioning to my father that she was such a nice woman and my father replying, " No nice woman would let her dog bite kids."
As I grew older and when I started to train dogs I started to recall many of these things.
My dad was 100% correct.
No nice person would continuously let a dog bite children. This woman had some serious definite character flaws.
If someone has a dog and it bites one child and then takes it somewhere else and it bites another child they might say that the dog just doesn't like children.
That is not true. They are simply not taking control of the dog.
My dog can snap your arm in two with one bite. But he doesn't have to do that nor is he permitted to.
You have to know what you want from your dog and not accept anything less.
The dog must rise to your expectations and anticipations and rise to the level of what you desire and who it is you are.
